St. Christopher’s point guard Alexander Petrie can beat a defense so many different ways. Off the dribble or from the outside, it can be a game of pick your poison against the Lafayette-bound senior.
That’s what St. John Paul the Great found out in late January when Petrie exploded for a school record 48 points in a 77-68 win for St. Christopher’s. He unleashed eight 3-pointers in that performance. The performance bested Nic Sherod’s school record 44 a year ago.
As a junior, Petrie ran the point for a Prep League runner-up squad and earned All-Prep League honors alongside teammates Sherod and Justin Jasper. Petrie averaged 20 points and four assists per contest during that campaign.
He’s had to take on an even more expanded role as a senior and he’s helped lead the Saints to a 13-6 record through January 27th.
He’ll get a chance to build on his tremendous legacy in the postseason as the Prep League and state tournaments are on the horizon.
